Google Chrome download for free
Google Chrome (commonly known simply as Chrome) is a freeware web browser developed by Google and based on the open-source Chromium web browser project. Google Chrome is a free web browser which is licensed as proprietary freeware, although its source code comes from Google’s open-source Chromium. Developed by Google, Chrome was officially released for Microsoft Windows on December 11, 2008. Google Chrome is one of the best web browsers due to its simple use and security. It takes a sandboxing-based approach to Web security, preventing malicious code on one page from affecting others. It also has many key features, making this web browser the best of the best:
Incognito mode
Incognito mode is one of the most used features of Google Chrome as it allows users to browse with minimal tracking and no history being saved. Keep in mind that this private browsing option doesn’t offer guaranteed anonymity, it only gives us a temporary control over our browsing footprints and is a way of keeping our history clean from prying eyes. Indeed, your IP address and other personal information can still be collected by the websites you visit, even in incognito mode. You can quickly launch Incognito on Google chrome using the Ctrl+Shift+N shortcut.
Bookmarks synchronization
Synchronizing our history, bookmarks, and settings across all our devices is a very useful feature, especially if we use multiple devices at once. This means that if I am logged in with the same Google Account on both my phone and my PC, I will be able to see on my computer the bookmarks and the history that I’ve created on my phone and vice-versa. This is an extremely handy feature, especially to those of us that travel a lot and have to travel away from their main computer.
Task Manager
You are now able to use a built-in Task Manager in order to find out which sites are overusing the CPU and you can close them too with this feature. This is a smart feature which has not been added to other web browsers.
Cast
Using Chrome’s built-in Cast functionality, you can now cast content from services such as Netflix and Hulu from your phone or PC screen to your TV. You no longer have to connect your devices to your TV using cables, you can do it almost instantly.
Right-Click to Search
There are times when, while surfing the internet, we bump into words or even with phrases about which we want to find more information. With Google Chrome, doing this is very practical. You just have to highlight the word or words that you want to search, right-click on it/them and select ‘Search Google for ”…”. You can even change this option to search using your preferred web browser.
Drag multiple Tabs at once
Many of us know that we can drag and drop a tab and match it between browser windows, but just a few of us know that we can do this with multiple tabs at once. All you have to do is to hold the “CTRL” key and select the wanted tabs by clicking on them.
Open closed Tabs
Have you ever closed your tabs by accident? I am sure did, and not just once. Thanks to Google Chrome, this mistake is a fixable one. You only have to open a new tab, right-click on it and select “Reopen Closed Tab”. You can also use the shortcut “Ctrl+Shift+T” to reopen a closed tab.
TL;DR
Google Chrome might not be the fastest web browser (although it’s still pretty fast) but it is one of the best due to its security and compatibility with many devices and operating systems. There are times when it overuses CPU, but I still like it and recommend it because it’s easy to use and offers high levels of protection against malicious code. It is one of the most used web browsers, rivalled only by Mozilla’s Firefox and Microsoft’s Edge web browsers.
