Strife download for free
Strife is a free-to-play (FTP) action Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game developed and published by S2 Games, who were also the creators behind titles such as Heroes of Newerth, for the Microsoft Windows, Linux and OS X platforms, and was originally released for these platforms worldwide on May 22, 2015. Hailed as the spiritual successor to Heroes of Newerth, Strife incorporates heavy elements from it including the game’ K2 engine but has improvements in lighting, physics and overall mechanics.
Which hero will you choose?
In Strife, players will take on the role of a powerful character called a “Hero”, each with their own special properties and base attributes that distinguish them, with over 25+ of them in the roster. All Heroes are available for free from the start of the game, and it is up to the player to use the fighting styles of each Hero and master them. At the start of a standard match, players are positioned at the ends of the map which are their bases, and the goal of the game is to destroy the opponents’ “Crux”, a stationary object that sits at the base of each team. All over the map are creep spawn points, generators, and a hero spawning pool. The first team to destroy its opponent’s Crux wins the game, and upon victory, all the team members are rewarded with experience which levels up their Hero and player level. Experience points can be used to buy and upgrade abilities for Heroes.
Crafting in a MOBA?!
Although Strife follows the standard MOBA structure, there are unique elements in the game. For example, there is a crafting system in the game which has seldom been seen in a MOBA game before. The crafting system allows players to change item components and recipes, which In turn allows any item to be part of your arsenal of weapons and abilities. Similarly, there is also a “Sidekick” feature in the game. Players can hire a “Pet” that will help them in combat. More pets can be bought as player level increases, and like Heroes, all Pets have unique abilities to complement his Hero. For example, the level 1 Pet Bounder looks like a magical sheep, and its main ability is increasing the mobility of Heroes, while a higher-level Pet called Blunder looks like a blue rhino and helps the Hero “siege and push the enemy base”. These attributes all work together to make Strife a truly unique game in a regard.
Strife also provides players with a single-player campaign aside from the main PvP one, in which players have to unravel the storyline to complete it. Unfortunately, though, despite the potential and quality, Strife is a game that has stopped receiving updates from the game as far back as 2017. There is still the quality campaign and DLCs to be explored, but overall Strife has been abandoned by its developers and it is difficult to find an online PvP match due to long waiting times. Putting that aside, though, Strife is a wonderful game at its core with unique game designs and elements added to it.
