The Sims 4

The Sims 4 is a life simulation video game from The Sims life-simulation series, developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for PC on September 4, 2014. The soundtrack of the game was composed by the composer Ilan Eshkeri. The music is lively and fun – I am sure that, playing this game 10 years from now, I’m likely to get a nostalgic rush listening to the music again.

Create-a-Sim has never been more realistic!

In The Sims 4, the creative tools have been redesigned, wanting to be more intuitive, powerful and fun. Thus, in the CAS (Create a Sim) mode, the tabs disappear: you just have to click on the different parts of the Sims to modify them (lengthen, shrink, heighten, make wider etc.). There are a hundred possible settings for the morphology of the body and face. These new features should make it easier to create characters, especially when you’re trying to make these characters look like somone or even look like yourself.

Create dream homes

The house creation tool has also been simplified: it is now enough to place blocks of 1×1 representing a piece of furniture. The windows and doors are placed on their own, but remain movable. An entire room can be moved by click-and-drag, – the furniture and decorations of the room will follow.

Express your emotions

The appearance of emotions is one of new features of The Sims 4. These emotions (or “moodlets”) are the new engine of Sims, they determine what they’ll do, how they feel like and the realtionships they will forge. The different emotional states are influenced by the environment surrounding the Sims. These different states are each nuanced by several intermediate states: for example, for sadness, a Sim may be depressed or simply sad. Sims will also be able to perform specific actions related to an emotion: if a Sim is sad, he can go hide under the cover of his bed and cry. Extreme emotions can kill a Sim, who will keep the color of the emotion after his/her death (e.g. red eg he/she died of anger). Emotions play a big role in the life of a Sim both in terms of relationships and work (for example, the job of scientist or doctor will promote the “concentrated” state of mind and the profession of painter will promote the creative emotional state).

Multi-task with your Sims

Until now, Sims could only perform one task at a time. However wih the release of The Sims 4 The Sims 4 can now perform several tasks at once: they will for example have the opportunity to drink a cup of coffee standing up while chatting with other Sims in the room. Pretty cool right!
