Roblox is a free-to-play MMO game targetted at kids and teen gamers. The game , developed by David Baszucki, was released into beta mode in 2004 and was officially made publically available in 2005. The game has educational aspects to it as it allows users to program their own games in Lua. The game, although not very popular at its initial released, had made massive headlines where it had reached 320 million users by December 2012.

How do I join the game?

To play on Roblox you now must create an account on the Roblox website. You can sign up for a free account on https://www.roblox.com. Prior to 2017, you could simply download the application and play as a guest. However, the guest feature was removed in October 2017 (most likely due to spam and users going against their ToS, where no penalty can be taken against abusive Guest users such as a banning them).

Create games and share them with the world

Roblox allows users to build their own custom games (i.e. it is a Sandbox game, and is reminiscent of Garry’s Mod and Minecraft). The player’s goal is to create their own game which will then be visited by other players. The Roblox homepage, after signing up, will feature hundreds of user-created games which anyone can join. Users can build anything they want (within the game rules) and then share it to the community. build a game for it to be visited by other players. The most popular games which users had created are obstacle courses, shooting games as well as tycoon and business games. In this way, each game can have a community of players that know each other playing that same game. In Roblox, players can create their very own in-game scripts, textures and templates.
